About the Memorial

A quiet tribute,
painted with care.

A memorial portrait of a pet

The Memorial is the style we built last, and the one we take the most care with. The brief was simple: a portrait that someone in grief could look at without feeling rushed, sold to, or made smaller. The pet looks calmly toward the viewer. There's a quiet halo of soft directional light through the fur. The palette is warm cream-to-sepia. No religious symbols, no dates, no theatrical flourish.

It belongs on a mantelpiece, a bedside table, a quiet shelf, a phone lock screen carried with you. Owners tell us it lives in the places they didn't realise they needed it to live — above the chair where the dog used to sleep, on the kitchen window where the cat used to watch the garden.

If you'd like to discuss the order — the photograph, the timing, anything you'd like us to handle gently — email hello@oleaandhound.com and a real person will reply within a working day. There's no rush on memorial orders. They wait for you.

About the Memorial

Questions,
answered gently.

The photograph I have isn't very good. Will that be a problem?+

Probably not. The model is trained on real candid pet photos, including low-light phone snaps and older photographs. If we can see your pet's face and markings, we can paint them. If you'd like us to look at a specific photo before you order, email hello@oleaandhound.com and we'll tell you honestly whether it will work.

Can I add their name and dates to the portrait?+

The standard Memorial uses a discreet nameplate underneath the portrait with their name only — no dates by default, because most owners we've spoken to prefer the painting to be a portrait, not a memorial plaque. If you'd like dates added, email us after you order and we'll re-render at no charge.

Can I include a note about them in the delivery?+

Yes. At checkout, there's a bespoke-note field where you can write anything you'd like us to include with the delivery email — a line for your dad on what would have been their birthday, the name they were almost given as a puppy, the road they're buried beside. We include it verbatim, and we don't add any branded copy around it.

What if I want to look at this later?+

Memorial orders aren't on a clock. Save the page, come back tomorrow, come back next month. If you upload a photo and don't finish the order, we don't send any chase emails — that's part of the extra-care treatment for this style. When you're ready, you're ready.

Is there a religious version, or one with a cross / rainbow bridge / etc.?+

No, by design. The Memorial style is intentionally secular and free of any specific iconography — that way it sits respectfully in any home, regardless of the owner's beliefs. If you'd like to add a small religious symbol, a faded rainbow band, or any other personal touch, email us after you order and we'll re-render at no charge.

Will the print make me cry?+

Most owners tell us yes, the first time. Then they tell us that the portrait becomes the place where they go to remember them, rather than the moment of remembering itself. We don't say that lightly — we say it because owners have told us, and they keep telling us.
