Our story

Made in a farmhouse,
on the edge of an olive grove.

Olea & Hound was started for one reason: every pet portrait we'd ever ordered as a gift arrived in a flimsy frame, printed on inkjet paper, after waiting six weeks for a parcel from a warehouse in Shenzhen. We knew Europe could do better. So we built it.

Chapter One

A different kind of portrait studio.

Our atelier sits in a converted 200-year-old farmhouse near Mdina. Limestone walls, north-facing light, an olive grove out the back that's older than any of us. It's not a factory. It's the kind of place where the people who make your portrait actually care that it lands well.

We print every order on 250gsm Enhanced Matte Art, the same paper used by European galleries for limited-edition prints. Ships flat in a protective sleeve from our warehouse in mainland Europe. Framed prints arrive later this year, we're building the framing operation now.

Chapter Two

The bit where technology helps.

We use Google's latest image-generation model, the same one that powers professional illustration studios, to render six fine-art interpretations of your pet. Then we check every preview against your original photograph for likeness before you ever see it.

If our quality gate doesn't recognise your pet, we re-render before showing you anything. It's why our likeness refund rate sits below 1.5%, against an industry average closer to 8%.

The AI does the painting. The studio does the printing. The olive grove just gives us somewhere nice to sit and answer your emails.

What we will and won't do

The house rules.

No.

Dropshipping.

Every print is made in Europe. Nothing flies in from Asia. Nothing waits on a shelf. Frames coming this year.

No.

Sales urgency.

We don't run countdown timers, fake stock counts, or "75% off" lies. The price is the price.

No.

Costume novelty.

We won't render your dog as a Roman emperor in a sombrero. We make portraits, not memes.
